Lookback buys Quickcast, brings video screengrabs to Android

Perhaps the easiest way to grab what's happening on the screen of your Mac is Quickcast. The video screengrab app is easy to use, and even hosts your snippets so you can share a link with anyone who might want to check out what's going on. It' perfect for troubleshooting, where a customer might need help from an expert. Today, a company with a similar aim, Lookback, has announced they've acquired Reissued Ltd, makers of Quickcast, which is helping to power Lookback's new Android and Mac apps.

For all intents and purpose, Lookback for Mac is simply quickcast rebranded. Users can still send video screengrabs, and have them record the entire screen or a portion of it. Not much has changed there, thankfully.

On the back of their Quickcast acquisition, Lookback is also releasing a standalone Android app, which is now available on the Play Store. The app, as you might expect, records your screen as you use it. It also records your face using the front-facing camera, so a Developer can see how you might be reacting to the product as you use it.

Lookback for iOS is also improving, though the team isn't quite ready to announce that one yet. There's already a plugin for Developers and an app that can be used on jalbroken iOS devices, but nothing 'mainstream'.

Though aimed at troubleshooting and developing a better user experience via video and recording, the app also has some more in-line uses for recording gameplay and other fun tidbits like a quick look at incoming software for your favorite smartphone.
