LINE@ app launches to mix users with their fans

LINE Corporation, the company behind the popular chatting app LINE, has announced the launch of a new option called LINE@. With LINE@, companies, brands, and popular users can communicate with their fans (or clients, customers, etc.) by posting things like business content and promotional materials, among other things. LINE@ users can chat individually with those they've friended, post messages for everyone who is following to see, and more. It is available now for both Android and iOS. Users can have multiple LINE@ accounts, says the company.

In order to get a LINE@ account, you'll need to download the LINE@ app, which is free. Those who get an account will be assigned a random ID, and in order to create a custom one (LINE calls it a 'Premium ID'), users will need to pay $24 for the first year, and then $12/year after that to keep it.

Once an account is in place, LINE@ users are able to message followers in batches, something that can be done immediately or on a pre-arranged schedule. In addition, the LINE@ account holder can also chat with a follower individually — a setting that can be disabled for those who aren't interested in such a feature.

Other features include posting content that'll show up on their followers' timelines, or having messages posted on those timelines at the same time they're sent. LINE@ account holders can setup their own home page, which can be just about anything you'd typically put on a home page. Data metrics on things like friends are also provided.
