LightMode Kits Redesigned with sleeker hardware, still looks like Tron

A new project has reached its funding goal on Kickstarter that aims to make your motorcycle helmet look like a prop from the set of the latest Tron film. The project is called LightMode Kits Redesigned and it is an improvement on the original LightMode. The big change comes in the control and power module that operates the entire system.

The control box is now more aerodynamic in shape and rather than using AA batteries, it is now USB rechargeable. Having USB rechargeable batteries is a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. It's good for people who don't mind having to charge from a cable because they no longer need to buy batteries. It's a bad thing for those who like the ability to simply change the AA batteries on the road away from an outlet and continue glowing.

The control box is removable and is water resistant so if you get caught in the rain it will survive. Each LightMode Kit includes everything you need to design your own custom glowing helmet. The kit works with any style of helmet. Another change in the new design is smaller and stronger connections.

The kit is designed to let you lay out your design with tape and string. The glowing wires are then added and glue is used to secure the lights to your helmet and the tape is removed. The control box is held on the helmet with a low profile mount. The project was seeking a bit over $14,800 and raised over $34,000 with 21 days to go. A pledge of about $126 will get you one complete LightMode S kit with the ability to choose colors at the end of the campaign. Shipping is estimated for May 2017.
