Leeo Smart Alert Nightlight doubles as digital ears

If you haven't yet found a connected device that suits your tastes, there's another contender on the market — one that is available now, not at some point in the future after a funding project ends. It's called the Leeo Smart Alert Nightlight, and as its name suggests, the device is a mash-up of a couple different tools into one: it's one part nightlight, and one part connected alert system. When used alongside its mobile app, Leeo lets home owners know when one of their "dumb" alarms go off.

At its heart, the Leeo is a nightlight that twists to activate, giving a soft glow around its circumference. Its functionality extends to being a pair of digital ears when you're away, listening for a smoke detector and/or carbon monoxide detector. If it hears that alarm, it will follow it up with an alert on the owner's smartphone.

Because it works with any existing smoke detector and carbon monoxide monitor, it is simple enough to use for those who haven't quite grasped the finer points of connected systems. Just plug it in, download the app, set it up, and you're good to go.

When an alert is sent to a smartphone, the owner has the option to dismiss it as a false alarm, or to alert the police, which will come in handy when you're on vacation, as an example. The Leeo is available now from the company's website for $99 USD, and does not include any extra service fees.
