Hitman 2 Launches Later This Year With A New Co-Op Game Mode
It was something of a risk to release 2016's Hitman reboot as an episodic game, but between solid reviews and a rather positive reaction from fans, it seems to have paid off. Developer IO Interactive is going to try to recreate that success later this year, today announcing Hitman 2 for a November release. This time around, it'll be serving up the exploits of Agent 47 with the help of a new publisher: Warner Bros Interactive.
Today's announcement actually seems to suggest that Hitman 2 won't be an episodic title, but it doesn't confirm anything one way or another. Instead, the press release focuses more on what we can expect from the story, telling us that Hitman 2 will continue following Agent 47 as he hunts the "elusive" Shadow Client. "However," the press release reads, "when 47 learns the hidden truth about his past, nothing will ever be the same." Mysterious indeed!
In terms of setting, we're told that Hitman 2 will take us on an adventure that spans the globe. Various international locations will feature in Hitman 2, but the only one named specifically is Miami. Warner Bros also says that Agent 47 will make his way into the rainforest at one point, which should prove to be an interesting change of scenery.
Hitman 2 will also be home to a new, standalone game mode called Sniper Assassin. In this mode, two players will work together to assassinate different targets, though the mode can also be played solo if you prefer. Sniper Assassin is launching today in early access, but you'll need to pre-order the game in order to gain access to it.
Speaking of pre-orders, those are open now over on the official Hitman site, and there are a four different editions for you to choose from. The only bonus in the standard edition is that early access to Sniper Assassin mode, while the silver, gold, and collector's editions all unlock an increasingly sizable list of bonuses. Hitman 2 will be launching for PS4, Xbox One, and PC (with support for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X) on November 13, 2018.
