GoT's Euron Greyjoy to be played by Pilou Asbæk

Television shows are just starting up again after a long summer, and with them come increasing announcements about the present and future of well known entertainment. That includes information about the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, of which the actor who will play Euron Greyjoy has been revealed: Pilou Asbæk, perhaps best known for his recent role in the movie Lucy. HBO currently lists Season 6 as premiering in Spring 2016.

The information comes from Entertainment Weekly, which says it has confirmed the news. Rumor of the casting first came from Watchers on the Wall, which revealed Euron Greyjoy's actor and some other — far more spoiler-warning worthy — pieces of information.

Depending on how familiar you are with the storyline, you might not want to read any further along in this article, either. You've been warned.

Asbæk's role first surfaced after he was spotted on a Game of Thrones set in Northern Ireland, where a major scene — apparently including some fighting and some people cheering for Greyjoy — was filmed. Euron has big plans to conquer Westeros, at least in the books, and that'll probably be reflected in the upcoming season.

In addition, Ian McShane and Max von Sydow also have roles in the upcoming season.
