Google Play is handing out store credit to some users

If you go check out the Google Play Store right now, you might find that you have a special offer waiting for you. Google Play is handing out a credit to some of its users, which is certainly a pleasant surprise. Pleasant as it may be, only some users seem to be getting it, and even then, the credit isn't very much to begin with.

How much is it? If you're one of the lucky ones, you'll get a $1 credit to use in the store. That's right: a whole dollar. Should you be counted among the chosen ones, you'll be practically swimming in Google bucks.

A dollar doesn't buy you much these days, but sarcasm aside, it can actually go pretty far on the Google Play Store. There are a lot of apps and games that cost only 99 cents, so this dollar could net you one of those. You could, of course, also put it toward in-app purchases in one of the free apps or games you already use.

You're not just limited to apps and games when it comes to spending this credit, though. You can use it across the entire Google Play Store, which means that it can be put toward movies, books, or music as well. Use it to get a movie rental on the cheap, or to shave a little bit off the cost of your next book (Romance novels are currently on sale over at Google Play, for what that may be worth).

In the end, Google has no opinion on how you spend your $1 credit, it just wants you to put it toward something. Those who are lucky enough to receive this fabled Google Play dollar have until September 14 to spend it. Head over to the Google Play Store to see if you've got some free money waiting for you.
