Get your Apple Music subscription via a cheaper annual subscription

If you're subscribed to Apple Music right now, you would either be paying the regular $9.99 per month, or $14.99 for a family subscription. The cheapest plan available is the $4.99 monthly plan for students, or so we thought. Apparently, Apple has inserted a very interesting annual plan, and it might just fit your budget better.

Available online, the annual plan costs $99.00 – that works out to around $8.25 a month, cheaper than the $9.99 plan you have. But it's a bit of a chore to get there, so stick with us as we walk you through the process.

This is important to note – the annual plan is only available for current Apple Music subscribers. If you're not a current Apple Music subscriber, the Music app will only let you subscribe to a normal monthly plan. If you are already a subscriber, you can now actually switch to a much cheaper annual plan. The tip for new users is this – buy a monthly subscription first and then switch to the annual plan later on.

To get to this new subscription, you need to access the App Store and scroll to the very bottom of the Featured tab. Tap on your Apple ID, enter your password and tap on "View Apple ID." The last step is to tap on the Subscriptions button where you can access your Apple Music membership settings – and then you can change subscriptions from there.

If you plan on using Apple Music as your main music streaming service, we recommend this plan to you – it's around 17 percent cheaper than the normal monthly subscription. Get going and switch to an annual plan now, thank us later.
