FreedomPop's new prepaid family plans go light on data and cost

In a world where the big four carriers in the United States are promoting their new unlimited data plans, FreedomPop is going in the opposite direction. FreedomPop has introduced a new prepaid family plan that goes light on the data in the name of making monthly fees as small as possible. Assuming you can handle having next to no data each month, this might be the plan for you.FreedomPop's new plan actually doesn't come with a monthly fee – instead you'll just pay $5 in line access for each phone on the account. What does that get you? Unlimited talk, text, and 1GB of shareable data. 1GB isn't very much at all, especially if you're looking to split that among a number of different devices.

However, if you can keep data usage to a minimum, then this new plan could save you serious money. With just a $5 fee per line, you're looking at a maximum of $50 per month if you meet the cap of 10 lines. That isn't bad at all as long as you can keep everyone in check to avoid going over your 1GB allotment.

If you need more data than that, FreedomPop also offers higher tier plans that come with a monthly cost on top of the $5 line access charge per device. For instance, 2GB of shared data will run you $14.99 per month, while the 4GB plan is $34.99 and the 10GB plan costs $74.99. Finally, FreedomPop offers a 25GB plan that comes in at a not-minuscule $159.99 per month.

If you're up to the challenge of staying below 1GB of usage each month, you can check out the source link below to sign up. As a bonus for signing up now, you'll get an extra 500MB of data per line, giving you a little extra data to use. What do you think of FreedomPop's new family plans?
