Fortnite Respawn Vans may arrive this week: Here's what they sound like

All signs point toward the upcoming launch of Respawn Vans in hit battle royale game Fortnite, and a new leak reveals what they will sound like. The existence of a Respawn Van item first surfaced from code discovered in a past game update; Epic itself leaked the item during a Fortnite tournament soon after. It's possible the Respawn Vans will arrive in tomorrow's update.

The history of Fortnite Respawn Vans is short and mostly hearsay. The unofficial item was first revealed by a Fortnite leaks account called "FortTory" that published an image showing the item found in game assets. That discovery happened in late February and was joined by an official look at the vehicle days later in a Fortnite tournament.

There's no way of knowing whether Epic intentionally included one of the Respawn Vans in the private server where a $100,000 tournament took place, but viewers got a clear, long look at it regardless. In case you missed it the first time around, there's a clip of the stream that included the vehicle below.

Though the vans aren't available in the game yet — and they haven't been officially announced — a different Fortnite dataminer named "Knapperigeknaap" has published multiple sound files said to be related to the Respawn Vans. Assuming they're accurate, this is what we can expect the new item to sound like:

Epic has not officially announced the item, but the company did indicate earlier this year that it may add a respawn item like this. It would be hard to view the Respawn Vans as anything other than another take on competing battle royale game Apex Legends, which gives squads the opportunity to respawn their fallen team members. The name of the sound files indicates players will need to manually interact with the van using a player card in a way similar to Apex banners.
