Fire Emblem Heroes Is Getting A Monthly Subscription
Fire Emblem Heroes is, by far, Nintendo's most successful mobile title. It's also one of the oldest, launching in 2017 following Miitomo and Super Mario Run, and the first of Nintendo's mobile games to implement a gacha system where players spend premium currency for a chance at randomly pulling new characters. That gacha system has been the primary driver behind Fire Emblem Heroes' success, but now Nintendo is looking to experiment with monetization a little bit.
In a video published over the weekend, Nintendo revealed that Fire Emblem Heroes will begin offering a new subscription option. Dubbed the Feh Pass, this subscription will run $9.49 per month and will launch with version 4.2 on February 5th.
Perhaps the biggest draw of the Feh Pass will be the two Resplendent Heroes subscribers will get each month. Resplendent Heroes are buffed versions of standard Heroes, with new attire to boot. Resplendent Heroes get a +2 boost to all stats, with Lyn and Cordelia on the docket for the first month of the Feh Pass.
Aside from the Resplendent Heroes, subscribers will also get special Feh Pass quests to complete each month, expanded summoner support, and a new Re-Act feature. Re-Act will allow players to rewind time when their battles begin to go south, and it can be used as often as players want. Finally, subscribers will gain access to a new Auto-Start feature, which allows them to automatically run missions over again until they run out of stamina.
So, the Feh Pass sounds like a fairly standard subscription by gacha standards, as it gives players special heroes each month and allows them to alleviate some of the grind associated with the game. Fire Emblem Heroes is following in the footsteps of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Mario Kart Tour here, which both have subscription services of their own.
