Facebook finally rolls out reactions

If you've used Facebook at all, you've noticed the "Like" button underneath every status, picture, and news post. And you've probably wished that there were a "Dislike" button to go along with it. Well, the company thinks that disliking things is too negative, but starting today, you'll see some other options.

We've known about the Facebook reactions for quite some time now. The company has been testing a few different emotions that you can express, in addition to simply liking a status. Originally, there were six different emotions that you could choose from. These were eventually trimmed down to five, as they removed the one for "yay." This was done because the company found that the emotion was "not universally understood."

While the company has been teasing this feature for what seems like ages, they have only just rolled out this feature today. If you're using the site on the web, all you need to do is hover over the Like button, and you'll see all six of your options. And hopefully, you'll be able to better express your emotions regarding peoples' status updates, without needing to do anything more than simply click on a smiley face.

So far, it doesn't look like the feature has rolled out to the iOS version of the Facebook app. I've not been able to test the Android app yet, but it's probably safe to say that they'll both get the feature around the same time.
