Epic plans to sue organizers behind unauthorized UK Fortnite event

Epic Games reportedly plans to sue the organizers behind a botched Fortnite live event that has held in the UK last week. The festival, which was called Fortnite Live Norwich, was supposed to provide attendees with the opportunity to experience a Fortnite-themed event in real life, but reports from people who attended reveal that it was poorly staffed with lackluster activities and long wait times.

Fortnite Live Norwich drew a large number of visitors who were forced to spend long periods of time waiting in queues, according to BBC, allegedly due to a low number of staff and attractions. Despite peak attendance estimated at around 2,500, people who purchased tickets report only a few go-karts, one rock climbing wall, and attractions like a "cave" that was essentially a metal container with a tube inside of it.

Complaints from visitors include reports of having spent two hours standing in line to buy tickets and enter the site. Even after getting access, however, parents report long wait times at the few attractions that were available, such as an archery practice area that only accommodated four kids at a time.

As well, attendees report a lack of Fortnite-themed attractions; the staff were reportedly not dressed like the game's characters. Ticket prices were reportedly too high and only some people received refunds at the time. The festival's Facebook Page has disappeared.

According to EuroGamer, Epic Games plans to sue the organizers behind the event, with a spokesperson for the company stating that it wasn't involved with the UK event. "Epic Games was not in any way associated with the event that took place in Norwich and we've issued a claim against the organizers in the High Court of London," the spokesperson said.
