EA promises free DLC for Star Wars: Battlefront

EA and Dice have gotten a lot of flack for Star Wars: Battlefront, partially because of the season pass that they're offering. Namely, people don't want to have to shell out over $100 just to get the same, full game that everyone else will be playing. In fact, the DLC that they've announced for the season pass appears to have more content than the base game itself. The good news is that for those that don't want to pony up the extra cash, there's still more free content on the way.

When your base game has less content than the future DLC, people are going to be understandably upset. Thankfully EA's vice president Patrick Söderlund has announced that there will be a fair amount of DLC released for free.

In a couple of weeks we'll see The Battle of Jakku released. We've known about this DLC for some time, and it has always been advertised as free. However, the free goodies won't stop there. Söderlund specifically said that there would be "new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass."

When you look at what's been done in the recent months with Battlefield 4, I'm inclined to believe that the free content will be somewhat substantial. Hopefully that will make the experience a little better for those that don't jump on the season pass.
