BenQ HT8050 4K projector boasts cinema-like quality

BenQ has quietly launched a new projector that promises a whole range of great features, but with a substantial price tag to match. The HT8050 boasts 4K-resolution and THX display certification, something promised to 'rival' the quality you get at the cinema, only in the comfort of your own home. In exchange for such notable features, though, users will be shelling out a substantial $8,000 USD.

According to BenQ, the HT8050 is the first THX-certified DLP 4K projector on the market, making it the coveted item among home cinema connoisseurs. With this model, viewers get 8.3 million pixels and a lack of artifacts, a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and extreme color accuracy.

This projector likewise features XPR fast-switching technology that works, in part, via a 'dual-position precision optical actuator.' As a result, viewers get a massive 3840 x 2160 resolution versus the much more common Full HD 1080p resolution. BenQ says its technology reduces blurs, as well, so that image quality is always crisp with high clarity.

As far as the physical hardware goes, the HT8050 boasts a high-precision lens featuring 14 elements in six groups, a metal barrel, and cell framework. The lens features extra-low-dispersion coating. This is coupled with automatic focus adjustments and 'true zoom,' with image details being preserved when the image is zoomed in. Assuming you have a large enough wall, the projector can provide a 180-inch picture.

The HT8050 will be available starting on February 24.
