Asus splits into three companies

You've heard right, Asus is splitting up, but in a good way. Six months ago they announced they'd be splitting into three separate companies and that's now become a reality.

The three companies will be Asus, Pegatron and Unihan. Asus will make only Asus-branded computer, Pegatron will be in charge of OEM, mobo and component manufacturing, and Unihan will cover casing, modules and non-PC manufacturing. It sounds like a smart move to me.

The only downfall is that all the employees had their pensions paid out and as of January 1, they had to start all over. It sounds bad but considering most Taiwanese companies don't even offer a pension plan it's not too terrible.
