ASUS MeMO Pad 8 And 10 Tablets Introduced With IPS Displays And Enhanced Audio

ASUS has announced the new MeMO Pad 8 and MeMO Pad 10 tablets, two mid-range Android slates equipped with IPS displays, enhanced audio technology, and quad-core processors under the hood. Both tablets were introduced at the IFA 2013 event today, and though release dates and pricing haven't been pegged yet, we've got all the details for you after the break.

First up is the ASUS MeMO Pad 8, model ME180A, which features an IPS LED-backlit 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800. ASUS brags that the tablet has both wide viewing angles and "great daylight visibility." Likewise, as we mentioned, ASUS has equipped this tablet (and the MeMO Pad 10) with enhanced audio via SonicMaster audio technology for higher quality.

The ASUS MeMO Pad 10 is similar, offering a 10-inch IPS display with the same 1280 x 800 resolution and SonicMaster audio technology. The MeMO Pad 8 features a 5-megapixel rear camera, while the MeMO Pad 10 has a smaller 2-megapixel camera. Both slates offer 720p HD recording, and both have a 1.2-megapixel camera up front for chat sessions and such.

Both the MeMO Pad 8 and 10 are powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, while the 8-inch slate has a battery life of 9 hours with HD video playback and the 10-inch slate has a bit more at 9.5 hours under the same conditions. The smaller model is only being offered with 8GB of on-board storage, while the 16GB model has both 8GB and 16GB options. Both models also have microSDXC expansion slots.
