Asus, Bang & Olufsen Collaborate On Asus NX90 Hi-Fi, Dual-Touchpad Laptop
Asus has teamed up with Danish luxury electronics veteran Bang & Olufsen to create what's possibly its most luxurious multimedia laptop. Designed by award-winning B&O chief designer David Lewis, the Asus NX90 has a polished aluminum exterior, contrasting sleekly with a matte-black keyboard, and boasts two touchpads on either side of its keyboard.
The NX90 actually has two separate built-in touchpads; neither one is located in the where you traditionally rest your wrists. Instead, the twin touchpads are on either side of the keyboard, and Asus has included media software to take advantage of this "intuitive" design. It's called Rotation Desktop Control, and provides two-handed control for music and other media. Quality audio also is a major element, the NX90 designed with two speaker panels that slope outwards from top to bottom so that sound is directed to the user's ears. In between these speaker panels lies an 18.4-inch widescreen, which is completely covered in glass at 1,920-by-1,080 1080P resolution.
The NX90 features an Intel Core i7 CPU (either 7200QM or 8200QM), an 18" 1080p display, Nvidia GeForce GT 335M graphics card, dual hard drives, and a slot-load Blu-ray drive. Expect prices to be in the $1,799 to $2,499 range. The Asus NX90 Bang & Olufsen will be shipping in early march.
