Archos 50b and 50c Oxygen handsets target budget buyers

Archos has rolled out a couple of smartphones for budget buyers, the 50b Oxygen and the 50c Oxygen. Both handsets ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, as well as 720p HD 5-inch displays. The biggest difference between the two is the power they're packing under the hood.

The Archos 50b Oxygen is the lesser of the two handsets, offering a MediaTek MT6582 quad-core 1.3Ghz processor alongside 1GB of RAM and either 4GB or 8GB of internal storage, depending on model. The handset is a bit thicker than its sibling at 8.6mm (versus 7.64mm).

The higher-end model, the 50c Oxygen, features a MediaTek MT6592 octa-core 1.7GHz processor and the same 1GB of RAM, as well as a sole 8GB internal storage option. The battery is the same as the other model at 2000mAh, and both smartphones include a microSD card slot with support up to 64GB and dual-SIM.

The 50b comes with Bluetooth, while the 50c comes with Bluetooth 4.0. That aside, both have expected sensors: proximity and light, compass, accelerometer, and GPS with Glonass support. Both also feature an 8MB rear camera with auto-focus and an LED flash, with the ability to record in 1080p. The front-facing camera is a 2MP offering.
