Apple Says No More AOL Log-Ins For iTunes, App Store

If you're still using an AOL email to log-in, we're not sure if that's impressive or sad. Though you may have been around since the early days of the Internet, times have definitely changed for the better. If you were using that email to log-in to iTunes, you're going to have to change your ways. Apple has announced they're pulling support for iTunes AOL log-ins, meaning you'll have to use something else. The change also affects iBooks and the App Store.

Apple is going you time to grieve your loss, though. If you're really attached to your AOL ID, you have until March 31 to get a new scheme rolling. Past then, Apple says they "can't provide support for AOL Username accounts".

All AOL sign-ins will need to be converted to an Apple ID. If you log-in using an AOL ID, you'll be prompted to change, with instructions on how to go about it all.

Don't worry, AOL fans — your AOL info won't change. You'll still be able to log-in to your AIM or AOL email. We're not quite sure why you'd want to continue using AOL, but whatever gets you through.

We would urge you not to drag your heels, though. Apple says "AOL Usernames which have not been transitioned to Apple ID will permanently lose access to the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store after March 30, 2015."
