There has been a bit of controversy lately over Nintendo's alleged crackdown on third-party docks and chargers that leave some Switches hopelessly dead. At the same time, however, Nintendo has yet to provide the official accessories that Switch owners need. Fortunately, there's a middle ground in certified third-party products. That's the path that popular power accessory maker Anker has taken to give users two officially certified power banks promised to give you hours and hours of gaming fun on the go.

These are hardly the only power banks that work with the Nintendo Switch. They're not even the first Anker power banks to juice up the handheld. But considering the uncertainty and fear over using unofficial accessories, Anker is proudly waving its official certification direct from Nintendo.

In practical terms, that means that Anker's promise of fast charging won't burn down the Switch. Anker says that its new Nintendo-certified PowerCore 20100 and PowerCore 13400 power banks can charge the Switch from 0 to 100% in just under 3 hours. And that's even while using the device.

That feat is actually thanks to the USB-C Power Delivery industry standard. That does mean that the power banks can be used to charge other things as long as they support the wattage. As their name implies, the PowerCore 20100 and PowerCore 13400 have 20,100 mAh and 13,400 mAh capacities. The PowerCore 20100 advertises to add 15 more hours to your playing while the PowerCore 13400 only gives 9 hours more.

It seems almost counterintuitive and ironic that you need a proprietary certification for an industry standard, but such is how the business world rolls. The Anker Nintendo Switch Edition power banks will be available later this month from Anker.com and GameStop and will cost $69.99 for the PowerCore 13400 and $89.99 for the PowerCore 20100.
