Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Puts A Campsite On Your Phone

Although not as revered as franchises like Super Mario (already there) and Zelda (coming next!), Nintendo's Animal Crossing has easily endeared itself to gamers for its Sims-like open-ended time-sink and its favorable furries. It's less intense, almost relaxing gameplay almost makes for a perfect fit for mobile gaming. As luck would have it, Nintendo thinks so as well. Pretty soon, in just a month's time in fact, you will be able to play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp on your phone. But make no mistake, managing a campsite is no work in the park.

While the main Animal Crossing console titles play more like Sims, Pocket Camp adheres more to the conventions of mobile games like Dragon City and other "farm-raising" games. Of course, with Animal Crossing's unique style. Here, you take the role of a new campsite manager and you need to build and jazz up your tiny plot of land. For what purpose? To have more anthro campers, of course!

While you are naturally limited to your small campsite (and your own RV home) when it comes to decorating, you can go about the entire lay of the land. Almost. You will actually be visiting specific spots to perform tasks, which will earn you rewards that will go towards improving your campsite. It's the vicious cycle mobile games are well known for.

Like any mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has its own smidgen of social features. And, no, we don't mean socializing with the animals. It has Farmville-esque connections with other human players, where you can visit their campsite for some chit chat or for some help.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is set to launch late November and will be available for free on iOS and Android. Of course, there will be tons of in-app purchases to be expected. Like with other Animal Crossing titles, there will be seasonal events and items, depending on Nintendo's festive spirit. At launch, the game will be available only in these countries, with the promise of more to come some time in the future:
