Animal Crossing: New Horizons trailer prepares us for life on the island

With Luigi's Mansion 3 and Pokemon Sword and Shield out of the way, Switch owners have now turned their sights toward Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Arguably Nintendo's first big Switch game of 2020, New Horizons is due out on March 20th – a little over two months from today. It seems that Nintendo is ready to begin its pre-release marketing campaign, as today it launched a new trailer for New Horizons.

Before you Animal Crossing fans get too excited, you should know that this trailer is a short one. Clocking in only at 30 seconds long, it doesn't quite offer the glimpse into New Horizons that fans have been craving, but it might be enough to satiate eager players until a more substantial trailer drops.

In any case, the trailer sees Tom Nook giving various Animal Crossing characters (including Isabelle) a "primer" on island living. It shows a few activities players will be able to do in the game, but again, there isn't a whole lot here. We see a villager cutting trees and laying paths, but beyond that, there's very little gameplay footage in this trailer.

Such is the way of things sometimes. We'll undoubtedly see New Horizons get a beefier trailer soon, as Nintendo knows that Switch owners are looking forward to this game. Nintendo doesn't have a ton of first-party titles lined up for 2020, so it'll probably market Animal Crossing: New Horizons heavily over the next couple of months.

New Horizons was originally scheduled to launch last year, but at E3 2019, Nintendo announced the delay to March 20th, 2020. Hopefully that's the last delay we'll see for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but regardless, we'll let you know when Nintendo shares more.
