Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 might head to Wii U

Forget the new touchscreen controller. Forget the fact that Nintendo will finally offer HD graphics in a video game console. And you can even forget the new online community Miiverse. All of those things are irrelevant if the Wii U doesn't manage to bring significant third-party support and blockbuster franchises that have helped deliver success to its rival consoles.

So it is refreshing news to hear that Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, the game that was destined to set world records from the day it was announced, might be heading to the new Nintendo platform. Because of its massive success, Black Ops 2 has already been confirmed to be heading to Sony's portable PlayStation Vita as well as the standard slate of the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. But nothing has been stated about Nintendo platforms.

The first hint was that Activision gave the requisite "cannot confirm nor deny" response when asked if the game was heading to the Wii U. And now, in leaked pictures of the next issue of Nintendo Gamer magazine, it seems to be outright confirmed that Black Ops 2 will give the high-def Nintendo system a chance to join its ranks. Of course it will be interesting to see how Activision adapts the standard Call of Duty control scheme to the Wii U GamePad. More details are sure to follow in the coming weeks.
