LG budget lineup: G3 Stylus global rollout, A&T G3 Vigor

Forever capitalizing on the success of its G3 smartphone, LG has outed several variants bearing the same name but bearing different personalities, such as the G3 Stylus and this new G3 Vigor. Make no mistake, however, as these two are not in the same league as the LG G3 and are designed to expand the OEM's mid-range line instead.

The LG G3 Stylus has already been revealed before IFA 2014 and may have already broken the hearts of those hoping for a Samsung Galaxy Note rival. Instead, this smartphone turned up with mid-tier specs, like a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, and a large but rather dismal 5.5-inch 960x540 qHD screen. The stylus was also somewhat disappointing, though LG is trying to sell its Rubberdium pen as something that is useful even without the S Pen's pressure sensitivity. That said, there are admittedly some desirable features on this device, like the 13 megapixel rear camera, LG G3 body design, and UX (user experience) add-ons that make LG's devices notable.

The LG G3 Vigor, which seems to be an AT&T exclusive for now, is somewhat new to our ears. The name first came up when LG trademarked a bunch of G3 names at the USPTO. Now it's about to take flesh, though AT&T isn't saying much about it other than a 5-inch 720p screen. Already it is looking better than the G3 Stylus. Other specs being thrown around include a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400, 1 GB of RAM, and an 8/1.3 megapixel camera combo. If those specs sound familiar to you, then you might have the LG G3 Beat in your mind, and you wouldn't be far off. The G3 Vigor sounds like an AT&T-only spin of the G3 Beat, just as the LG G3 s is the exact same smartphone but meant for European markets.

The LG G3 Stylus will begin its retail life this week in Brazil, followed by the rest of Latin America, Central Asia, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The G3 Vigor is, of course, available in the US from AT&T, though the exact date hasn't been announced just yet. Pricing details for both devices will be revealed in each market when they arrive.
