Xbox One's China launch bumped toward end of year

As of this past summer, Microsoft had announced plans to launch the Xbox One in China on September 23, bringing its latest console to one of the largest markets it could target. Unfortunately for those hoping to grab it next week, the company has announced it must extend the launch date farther into the year.

The announcement was made last night, coming in just ahead of the launch deadline. According to Microsoft, it needs "more time to deliver the best experiences possible" for gamer's in China. The company is still working with BesTV, it says.

Unfortunately, no new launch date has been provided, but Microsoft says its console will be made available in China by the end of 2014. Until then, work remains steady, according to the company, and it is going ahead with its September 22 Shanghai event.

When the console does finally arrive, gamers in China will be looking at a price tag equivalent of $600 USD. Microsoft isn't the only company looking to get is wares into China, with Sony announcing that its competing PlayStation 4 is also heading to the country
