Samsung's Galaxy S II gets glowing prototype preview [Video]

Samsung's Galaxy S II may have been soundly teased before its MWC 2011 debut, but it's still one of the dual-core Android smartphones we're most interested in from the show. mobile-review has managed to acquire a prototype Galaxy S II, and has wasted no time in putting it through its paces in a preview.Video demos after the cut

Among the improvements are the new 4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, which is said to offer a noticeable boost over Super AMOLED as on the Nexus S, and the DNIe+ image processing tech, similar to the BRAVIA Engine Sony Ericsson offers on the XPERIA Arc. Without any apps to really make the most of a dual-core CPU it's hard to say how the Galaxy S II shapes up in performance terms – it seems this is a Tegra 2 version, though it's not confirmed – but it's said to be no slower than the ATRIX 4G or Optimus 2X.

On the downside, the motion control system is less than intuitive and the phone is pretty broad in the hand. Still, you get a good 8-megapixel camera and a speedy UI (demonstrated in the video below). We'll save final judgement until the production models are ready and in our hands, but for now we're still hopeful.
