Rumors points to Verizon BlackBerry Priv launch March 3

Verizon BlackBerry fans that have been waiting for the Priv Android-powered device to land might not have much longer to wait. Word is that pre-orders for the device might kick off March 3 with the smartphone being available in stores on March 11. This hasn't been officially confirmed with any announcement from BlackBerry, so at this time it's still a rumor.

The source of the rumor comes by way of Priv hopefuls who have been contacting Verizon customer care. These people report that several Verizon employees have cited the March 3 pre-order and March 11 availability dates. A tweet made by Verizon Consumer and Enterprise VP Jeffrey Nelson has hinted that those dates were correct.

Back in January word that the Priv might also be coming to T-Mobile surfaced. The Priv has a slide out keyboard. If you want the device now, it has been available with AT&T for a while. If you have missed all the details on the smartphone, it has an 18MP dual-flash Schneider-Kreuznach camera. Power comes from a 3410 mAh internal battery good for 22.5 hours of use per charge. Internal storage is 32GB and it has a microSD card slot for expansion supporting cards up to 2TB in capacity.

The operating system is Android 5.1 and it has a 1.8GHz hexacore Snapdragon 808 chip under the hood with 3GB of RAM. It's unclear just how well the Priv has been doing for BlackBerry, the company is tight lipped about sales numbers for the device.
