PlayStation Vue will soon offer HBO and Cinemax

PlayStation Vue, Sony's over-the-Internet live television service, will soon offer HBO and Cinemax as channel options for those who want them. The announcement coincides with another one — HBO Now will soon be available on both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation 4, giving those with a standalone HBO Now subscription — regardless of whether they have Vue — the ability to watch shows through it on their PS console. The HBO Now support, of course, won't cost anything.

Sony announced the upcoming channel options today, saying PlayStation Vue users will be able to get them ahead of the Westworld series premiere on October 2; the exact date you will be able to subscribe to them, though, wasn't stated. As with other add-on channel options, you'll have to pay for HBO and Cinemax in addition to your service plan's rate.

Both HBO and Cinemax will cost $15 each as standalone offerings. You can choose to subscribe to one or the other regardless of which of the three PS Vue channel tiers you subscribe to.

PlayStation Vue Review: two months with Sony's TV service

The PS Vue tiers offer increasingly high numbers of channels, though they all do a good job of giving users the channels most people love to watch — things like Comedy Central, FX, and more. The monthly plans cost $29.99/month for 55+ channels, $34.99/month for 70+ channels, and $44.99/month for 100+ channels.

There are several add-on channel options for those who want something extra; these include Showtime for $10.99/month, FOX Soccer Plus for $14.99/month, EPIX Hits Showtime premium pack for $11.49/month, and Machinima for $2.99/month.
