Evernote buys handwriting app Penultimate

Evernote, the cloud syncing note service, has acquired Penultimate, the handwriting iPad app designed by Cocoa Box. The creator of Penultimate, Ben Zotto, will be joining the Evernote team in order to create tight integration between the two services. The standalone iPad app will also live on, with Evernote saying there’s no immediate plans to discontinue the app.

Popular cloud-based note-taking service Evernote announced today that it has acquired Skitch, a photo annotation, editing, and sharing app. Skitch has so far been limited to the Mac platform, but with the acquisition, Evernote intends on expanding the app to all platforms, including iOS, Windows, and Android as well as integrating the app into its own note-taking platform.
