OPPO R5s officially announced for Europe

Chinese manufacturer Oppo has just unveiled its latest mid-size device, the R5s, an update of last year's R5. The new version features the same impressive design and minimal thickness, but with an increase in memory from 2GB to 3GB of RAM. The R5s has been announced for Europe so far, with orders now being accepted on Oppo's website.

Along with the gracious increase in RAM, the R5s features a 5.2-inch AMOLED Full HD display. The phone maintains its slim figure, measuring only 4.85 mm thick, and ships running Oppo's ColorOS 2.0, which is based on Android version 4.4. Inside is a 1.5 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor.

The R5s comes with 32GB of internal storage, but that thin form factor means there's no room for a microSD card slot to increase that amount of space. On the rear, users will find a Sony-made 13-megapixel camera capable of a f/2.0 aperture and a LED flash. On the front is a 5-megapixel camera with the same aperture.

The battery comes in at 2,000 mAh and features Fast Charge Technology. For connectivity the R5s has 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, and a microUSB v2.0 port.

The only other major addition to the R5s is the new dark grey casing, which is actually the only color option. The increase in RAM and storage is a welcome addition though, and the €199 (about $230) price won't break the bank.
