LEGO Batman release pushing back LEGO Movie 2

Will Arnett's LEGO Batman has apparently taken the place of all other Batmans as the most beloved toy-selling Batman in modernity. This became apparent this week when it was revealed that The LEGO Movie 2 – sequel to the highly popular 2014 LEGO Movie – will be pushed back in favor of a LEGO Batman spin-off. No, not THAT Batman made of LEGO, but this newer, funnier LEGO Batman. Will Arnett's Batman – ready to command another movie all his own. We can only hope that Jim Carrey will return for another Riddler.

Animation supervisor to The LEGO Movie, Chris McKay, is set to (likely) become the director of this Batman film. He was originally set to direct The LEGO Movie 2 – and probably still is. Troy Baker was the original LEGO Batman voice before The LEGO Movie – we can assume he's effectively "out" until this comedic Batman runs his course.

The LEGO Batman film spinoff is being written by Seth Grahame-Smith. Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller are set to produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this film is being fast-tracked. That means the people with the cash think they've got a guaranteed hit on their hands.

If you'll remember our LEGO Movie Review, you'll know good and well of our love for the film and the toys that resulted. This unique Batman's LEGO toy appearance has only made it to one set so far, set 70815, the Super Secret Police Dropship.
