iOS 8.0.2 update arrives with promised bug fixes in tow

Apple's recently released iOS 8.0.1 update came with an unfortunate side dish of unanticipated issues, namely in the form of lost connectivity and issues with the Touch ID sensor. The outcry was quick and severe, and Apple issued a workaround alongside the promise that a fix was inbound. Today, that fix has arrived.

Apple promised that the iOS 8.0.2 fix would be issued shortly when it published its workaround fix, and that promise was spot-on. Users are seeing the update pop up now, a solid 72.2MB of bug fixes and generic "improvements."

After updating, this should restore the lost functionality to those who were affected, and all will be well in the Apple world again. Any specific details from Apple about the issue and the update haven't been dropped yet, but those who have been holding off on updating can finally safely do so.

Other fixes include:

- Fixes a bug so HealthKit apps can now be made available on the App Store

- Addresses an issue where 3rd party keyboards could become deselected when a user enters their passcode

- Fixes an issue that prevented some apps from accessing photos from the Photo Library

- Improves the reliability of the Reachability feature on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

- Fixes an issue that could cause unexpected cellular data usage when receiving SMS/MMS messages

- Better support of Ask To Buy for Family Sharing for In-App Purchases

- Fixes an issue where ringtones were sometimes not restored from iCloud backups

- Fixes a bug that prevented uploading photos and videos from Safari
