Huawei Ascend G6 4G pushes 150Mbps to mainstream

Huawei's Mobile World Congress showing isn't all about skinny tablets and transforming wearables, with the company also bringing along the Ascend G6 4G smartphone, too. Running Android on a 4.5-inch 950 x 540 LCD, the 7.85mm-thick G6 4G has a 1.2GHz quadcore processor and up to 150Mbps downloads, network-depending.

There's also a 2,000 mAh battery, NFC, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, which gets an 88-degree four-element plastic lens and automatic facial-enhancement. The rear camera is an 8-megapixel Sony sensor with a five-element plastic lens, BSI, and f/2.0 aperture for low-light conditions.

Huawei's Emotion UI 2.0 has been slapped on top of Android, with various themes to download and install if that's your fancy. The G6 4G will be offered in black (with gunmetal grey or rose gold highlights) or white (with pink or champagne gold highlights).

Huawei will also have a second version of the phone, the Ascend G6, which lacks 4G and tops out at 3G instead. However, it does at least benefit from a slight reduction in thickness, dropping to 7.5mm, and comes in different finishes, including black, white, pink, gold, and blue.

The Ascend G6 3G will go on sale by the end of Q1 2014, while the Ascend G6 4G will follow on from April; the latter will be priced at €249 ($342) SIM-free in Europe.
