Looks like the Google Nexus One speculation is drawing to a close, with the news that Google are hosting an exclusive "Android press gathering" on January 5th. While the Nexus One is not specifically mentioned in the invitation, it seems likely to be the main focus at the event.
"With the launch of the first Android-powered device just over a year ago," Google's invite reads, "we've seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning of what's possible." The all-morning event kicks off with a press conference and presentation, before an opportunity to try out the new device.
We've already heard from earlier on today that T-Mobile USA are preparing to support the Nexus One - aka the Google Phone - as the US carrier, though the hardware itself will be supported by Google and HTC. The search giant are expected to sell the Nexus One exclusively through their site online.
