Canon EOS 7D Mark II specs get leaked, ready for Photokina

The 2014 FIFA World Cup has come and gone, but the successor to Canon's 7D camera was nowhere to be found. While we await for its next possible appearance, presumably at Photokina in Germany next week, let us spend the time dwelling on the specs and features that are rumored for the EOS 7D Mark II digital camera.

This second 7D is said to have a 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, notably high for a digital camera of its kind. This will be paired with a Dual DIGIC 6 processor. This combination gives the 7D Mark II a variety of capabilities, such as continuous or "burst" shooting at a rate of 10 images per second and Full HD video recording at 60 fps. The ISO sensitivity of the camera is noted to reach only 16000.

For Auto Focus, this Canon shooter also boasts of a few Canon specialties, like its Dual-pixel CMOS AF and its Intelligent Tracking and Recognitions or ITR AF. That said, EOS 7D Mark II also brings something new in the form of a new 65-point AF of the cross-type kind.

Outside of regular camera duties, the camera still touts some special properties, like water and dust proofing of a yet unspecified rating and a body design that uses magnesium alloy for an added factor of toughness. There is also said to be a built-in GPS for automatically geotagging photos. The leak doesn't mention any built-in WiFi, though that is usually the standard in high-end digital cameras these days anyway.

There is still no word on when Canon plans to finally unveil the EOS 7D Mark II. But given that Photokina, the world's largest photography trade fair, is just around the corner, it is quite likely to be there to take advantage of the crowd as well.
