Voice-enabled WhatsApp Messenger now available for Android

WhatsApp has been around for a while and is a messaging app that people have been using for sending text messages for the most part. Back in February WhatsApp began rolling out voice calling on some Android devices. Earlier this month we learned that WhatsApp voice calls were available for more users if you could land an invite to try the voice service.

If you felt left out because you didn't get the voice calling feature, feel left out no more. WhatsApp has now rolled out voice calling in the latest version of the app for all Android users. The new version of the app is 2.12.19.

The voice service is free for a year if you download the app now. After the free trial period, you will be able to purchase service for 99 cents per year. Those who have already paid for service won't have to pay again.

The app supports Android 2.1 or higher and WhatsApp recommends an unlimited data plan. At this time, tablets aren't supported with the voice service. If you want the new version of the app, you can download and update your app manually from whatsapp website, before it is rolled out on Google Play Store. iOS users should get the voice call feature soon in coming weeks.
