NoYes

Up until ten minutes ago I’d never heard of PS2 game Rule of Rose, a macabre journey through a 1930s orphanage complete with sadistic child torture and creepy “you belong to us now” storyline.  However now having found out that, slated for release in the UK today, it now in fact won’t be sold here at all due to highly vocal opposition from significant figures in European politics, I’m determined to get my hands on it.

Rule of Rose

Ironically, although it succeeds in being atmospheric and vaguely creative, reviews of Rule of Rose such as this one by NTSC-uk have been lukewarm.  Controversy, however, is an excellent sales tool (look at Bully if you don’t believe me) and I’m in no doubt that there’ll be a whole lot of clandestine copies of the game winging their way across the Atlantic before long.
