TCL UE5700 Ultra HD TVs target the budget-conscious

If you're pining for an Ultra HD television but have been waiting for the prices to come down, Chinese maker TCL has ushered in a couple new 4K models that fit the bill. The UE5700 series in particular is aimed at the budget-conscious, with its smallest model, measuring in at 40-inches, being priced at $500 USD.

The other UE5700 model measures in at 49-inches, and is priced at $600 USD. Both models in this particular series features four HDMI ports, a 120Hz refresh rate, and upscaling for sub-4K content. Overall, both are simple and generic Ultra HD TVs that will get you the higher resolution without frills.

In addition to the lesser series, TCL has also introduced the UH9500 series, which includes a 55-inch model for $800 USD, a 65-inch model for $1300, and an 85-inch model for $8,000 USD. This series offers additional features over the other series, including WiFi with HEVC decoding, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 4K upscaling, and a slim bezel. The 85-inch model in particular has a 240Hz refresh rate and a couple 15-watt Dolby Digital Surround speakers.

As a frame of reference, last summer TCL introduced a 50-inch Ultra HD TV that was priced at $1,000, which at the time was an option cheaper than most alternatives. Check out the timeline below for other 4K news.
