HP ENVY 17, Pavilion dv6 & dv7 get Intel/AMD updates; Mini 210 goes pink

HP has updated its ENVY 17, Pavilion dv6 and Pavilion dv7 notebooks support the new, second-gen Intel Core 2011 processor line-up along with AMD's new Radeon HD 6800 series graphics. VIA Nano X2 dual-core super frugal chip gets official

Intel 2nd-Gen Core processors get official with WiDi 2.0

Intel has officially unveiled its Sandy Bridge 2011 Core processor series, with the 29 new second-gen Core i3, i5 and i7 chips replacing the existing versions and throwing in integrated "processor graphics" too. Processor, graphics and memory controller all live on a single die built with 32nm processes, and Intel is preparing quad-core i7 chips to ship in new devices launched at CES 2011, followed by dual-core and ULV notebook versions, together with an overclockers' "K" range of chips. Dell XPS multimedia laptops outed: Optimus, 3DTV Play & WiDi

Dell has outed its latest multimedia laptops, in the shape of the newly refreshed Dell XPS range.  Available in 14-, 15.6- and 17-inch sizes, the new XPS notebooks pack a choice of Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors and Optimus-compatible NVIDIA GeForce 400M GPUs.  Interestingly, they'll also be the first notebooks to ship with HD webcams that are Skype-certified. The rest of HP’s new notebook range may not be quite as eye-catching as the ENVY 14 and ENVY 17, but there are still some gems in the line-up.  The company have partnered with both AMD and Intel for their new Pavilion dm4, dv5, dv6 and dv7 consumer notebooks, together with the ProBook S-Series and B-Series of business-focused machines.  We went hands-on will all of them – including the optional-multitouch dv6 – so check out more details and first-impressions after the cut.

WonderMedia SmartStream makes Intel WiDi generic

Intel's Wireless Display technology is slowly proliferating among laptops, but WonderMedia reckon their SmartStream system knocks it into a cocked hat.  The media adapter uses the company's PRIZM SoC to stream content via ethernet or WiFi from any notebook or PC, pumping it out on your HDTV complete with two-way communications for controlling the computer even if it's in another room. Cedar Trail M next-gen Atom CPUs getting 1080p Wireless Display

Fresh details on Intel's upcoming Cedar Trail M platform - the replacement to the current Intel Atom N4x0 Pine Trail processors - have emerged courtesy of Fudzilla, and it seems that Intel are looking to push HD video performance with their new netbook chips.  Cedar Trail M processors CPUs will apparently support 1080p HD video streaming courtesy of Intel's Wireless Display system, currently available on select Calpella-based notebooks. Toshiba Satellite E205-S1904 now shipping at Best Buy

You might recall that the Toshiba Satellite E205 was unveiled at CES this month as a Best Buy exclusive machine and we talked about it a bit at the time. When we first heard about the notebook, it was pegged at a price of $999. Netgear Push2TV PVT1000 WiDi adapter gets official

Netgear have come clean with full details on their Push2TV adapter, the Netgear PVT1000, designed specifically to work with Intel's newly-announced WiDi Wireless Display technology.  Slightly larger than a deck of cards, the PVT1000 has just two outputs - HDMI and composite video - together with an internal WiFi connection. Intel WiDi debuts for HD-over-WiFi streaming; Netgear & Toshiba onboard

Intel have announced Intel Wireless Display or WiDi, a system for streaming high definition video content from your PC to an HDTV via your WiFi network.  Announced during Intel's CES 2010 keynote, WiDi requires a PC with a Core i3, i5 or i7 processor together with a standalone adapter box - priced at around $100, Intel reckon - which plugs into your HDTV via HDMI.  Intel demonstrated streaming Netflix from a laptop through WiDi to a TV display.
