Fujitsu Arrows LTE Tab Android slate aims directly at hardcore market

Fujitsu Arrows LTE Tab Android slate aims directly at hardcore market

This week we've already seen one tablet that's set to be nearly indestructible AND able to run Android in a single bound, now here's another - this one goes by the name Fujitsu Arrows LTE Tab and is able to be submerged under water completely, not just sprayed a bit in the face. It's a 10.1-inch display having 1280 x 800 pixel resolution toting Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet at the moment, and inside you'll find Tegra! Not Tegra 3, unfortunately, that honor is thus far reserved for the ASUS amongst us. UPDATE: There's been some confusion about the chip inside this device - though the video below says NVIDIA, inside this tablet is actually the lovely Texas Instruments OMAP4430, seen in quite a few excellent Androids as of late - take note!

NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor revealed and detailed

NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor revealed and detailed

The next generation of mobile processors has arrived in the form of the NIVIDA Tegra 3, formerly known as Project Kal-El, a quad-core chipset with aspirations to dominate the Android landscape in 2012 as the Tegra 2 dual-core processor dominated the majority of 2011. Though many of the details have already been revealed by NVIDIA before today on how Tegra 3 functions and is able to bring you the consumer more power, less battery consumption, and more effective workload distribution, this marks both the official naming of the chip as well as the official distribution of easy to process videos on how Tegra 3 will affect the average mobile device user.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime announced with Tegra 3 quad-core processor

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime announced with Tegra 3 quad-core processor

Today both NVIDIA and ASUS have revealed two new products, both of them coming together here in one product: the Eee Pad Transformer Prime, a 10.1-inch display toting Android tablet with NVIDIA's newest prized processor: the quad-core Tegra 3. The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is the second Android tablet to have been released by the manufacturer, the first being the break-out hit original Transformer, and here in the Prime we've got a tablet that's twice as powerful, in more ways than one. This tablet will be the first Android device on earth with a quad-core processor and has already been seen to be crushing benchmark tests before its official unveiling today - this is already clearly the most powerful Android device on Earth.

ASUS Transformer Prime sets massive benchmark pre-release

ASUS Transformer Prime sets massive benchmark pre-release

Over the past few weeks we've been seeing glimpses of the next big tablet release from ASUS, one that's all but guaranteed to carry the NVIDIA Kal-El quad-core processor, and today according to AnTuTu benchmarking system, we see that not only does this pair exist, it's a powerhouse! What you're seeing here in this post is a stack of benchmarks that've been recorded by AnTuTu (an app which tests synthetically several innards of an Android device including CPU, graphics, and more) and right up on top you'll see nothing less than the ASUS Transformer Prime, complete with a quad-core processor running at 1.4GHz! Below that you'll see another couple of hero devices from Samsung, (including the Galaxy S II from AT&T) but take note: they've only got two cores, half the power!

Grand Theft Auto 3 set for NVIDIA Kal-El quad-core optimized play

Grand Theft Auto 3 set for NVIDIA Kal-El quad-core optimized play

You may remember back in the middle of October when it was announced that Grand Theft Auto 3 would be coming back for a 10th anniversary edition that'd work with both Android and iOS - now it appears that NVIDIA is getting in on the action with Rockstar, providing their next-gen Kal-El (aka Tegra 3) quad-core processor-toting Android tablet to the group so that they can optimize the game for ultimate supremacy. Word comes this week from Adam Rosenberg who this week had the opportunity to check the soon to be released game out on the unnamed Kal-El NVIDIA tablet, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4S. With the Kal-El tablet came the biggest surprises, both in that the game was running not on the tablet itself but through its TV-out connection, and secondly that Android's ability to work with USB controllers is programmed into the game so that an Xbox 360 controller works perfectly well!

Shadowgun released for Android and Hands-on

Shadowgun released for Android and Hands-on

In one fell swoop, it appears the the folks at Madfinger and NVIDIA have crushed the rest of Android with a game that takes the platform to a whole new level of gaming intensity. We got to check this game out earlier this month in its pre-release state, and today's the day the full version is released on the Android Market and through the official NVIDIA Tegra Zone. Is your Android rough and tough enough to bust a cap in a bunch of mutants, robots, and mutant robot hybrids? It all depends on if your processor is a Tegra! Ours is, right here on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and we're going hands-on again now with the final build.

NVIDIA CEO: Windows 8 on ARM should target tablets first

NVIDIA CEO: Windows 8 on ARM should target tablets first

NVIDIA president Jen-Hsun Huang has warned Microsoft not to position Windows 8 on ARM as PCs, arguing that tablets should be the company's first focus. The outspoken CEO described his argument as coming from "a finesse perspective" in an interview with AllThingsD, and a hope that Microsoft puts its software emphasis on bringing full Office support to the ARM-based version of the platform. "That would be the killer app," Huang reckons.

NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor promotional video leaks

NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor promotional video leaks

It's time to see our first advertisement-based demonstration of the capabilities of what was up until now simply called Project Kal-El, NVIDIA's next-level chip for mobile devices. This promotional video shows off a few key points NVIDIA hopes to put forth in regards to the awesomeness of having FOUR CPU cores in a single chip sitting on a tablet-like device, though the transparent nature of the device in this video might have you scratching your head wondering where all the metal went. Have a bit of fun watching what appears very much to be the first look at get at what NVIDIA has decided to call no simpler a name than NVIDIA Tegra 3.

Target Android tablet selection lifted above Apple’s iPad 2

Target Android tablet selection lifted above Apple’s iPad 2

This week Target will be evolving their mobile selection in several places, most notably in the tablet department, where Android tablets will be much closer to the smartphone selection than the iPad 2. For those of you that follow my analytics of the Target department store chain (whose home is right here in sunny Minnesota), you know that I've had more than one conniption fit over both the placement of Android tablets and the arrangement of their entire mobile section in general. Just this morning while picking up some random oddities, I noticed that big red may well have heard my siren call: the Android tablets are now less than 10 feet away from the smartphones.
