AT&T 4G: Not all HSPA+ Phones are Created Equal

At the Samsung/AT&T event today, the Samsung Infuse 4G was officially announced, and slated to be available May 15th. Our hands-on is here. It was also called the "first phone to support hspa+/hsupa at launch”. It has a dual antenna, just like the Motorola Atrix, but unlike the Atrix, it will have HSUPA enabled at launch. 4G comes in many different flavors, not all created equally. Samsung/AT&T Event, Infuse 4G Announced [Update: Available May 15]

We're here at the Samsung AT&T event, and the big announcement is...the Samsung Infuse 4G. Philip Berne has called this phone "remarkably light", weighing less than the Nexus S, even with a screen that's half an inch larger, and with a bigger battery. Plus, it has that stunning, tear-inducing Super AMOLED Plus display that we love so much on the Droid Charge. If AT&T can get this on the market super quick, they might be the first to do so.

This morning, we are looking forward to the Samsung Event at 4pm EST. Will it be the Infuse? Will they announce a date for the Galaxy S II for the US? The hot new phone has been selling like crazy in South Korea, and our review unit knocked our socks off. We'll be sure to let you know what happens at the event. Meanwhile, Samsung has revealed a "hybrid tablet" with SENS-240 navigation. But how useful is it, really? The incomparable Chris Davies has a great column this morning analyzing Verizon's Bliss "phone for ladies". Really Verizon? Aren't we ladies smart enough to download our own apps?
