Lenovo IdeaPad Z570, Z470 & Z370 multimedia notebooks get Sandy Bridge

Lenovo's updated Z Series multimedia notebooks have had in injection of Intel's latest Sandy Bridge processors, with the IdeaPad Z570, Z470 and Z370 built around 15.6-, 14- and 13.3-inch displays respectively and a choice of Core i3, i5 or i7 CPUs. The IdeaPad Z470 and Z370 come with eye-catching fuchsia, sky blue or dark brown transparent covers, while the Z570 is a little more sensible with an Accutype chiclet keyboard and metallic-effect casing.

Lenovo's new Y Series notebooks have made their CES 2011, and the company reckons that they're the fastest booting PCs around. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y560d, Y470 and Y570 get second-gen Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors along with NVIDIA GT 550M 1GB switchable graphics, but it's the optional Lenovo RapidDrive SSD that pairs HDD and SDD storage to achieve sub-10 second boot times.

Lenovo's G Series may be the company's value notebooks, but they still haven't escaped the Sandy Bridge upgrade. New for CES 2011 are the Lenovo IdeaPad G770, G570, G470, G575 and G475, spanning 17-, 15- and 14-inch screen sizes, and available with a choice of Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, or chips from AMD's new Brazos Fusion range. They're paired with either AMD Radeon HD 6370M 1GB graphics or Radeon HD 6650 graphics.

Intel 2nd-Gen Core processors get official with WiDi 2.0

Intel has officially unveiled its Sandy Bridge 2011 Core processor series, with the 29 new second-gen Core i3, i5 and i7 chips replacing the existing versions and throwing in integrated "processor graphics" too. Processor, graphics and memory controller all live on a single die built with 32nm processes, and Intel is preparing quad-core i7 chips to ship in new devices launched at CES 2011, followed by dual-core and ULV notebook versions, together with an overclockers' "K" range of chips.

Intel may be waiting patiently to do the official unveiling of their Sandy Bridge processors until CES 2011, but that's not stopping the name from popping up pretty much everywhere. We first caught glimpse of the new chip in an HP dv6 that was being shown off in an electronics store in Singapore, where you could buy one if you really wanted to. Another HP laptop appeared in Micro Center's catalogue, and one lucky individual decided that they didn't want to wait. So, they bought it. And sure enough, Sandy Bridge is on board. Thankfully, photos were taken.

Lenovo has refreshed its Idea line-up of consumer-centric PCs with a pair of new notebooks, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y460p and Y560p, and a desktop, the Lenovo IdeaCentre K330. The Y460p and T560p are 14- and 15.5-inches respectively, with Intel's second-gen Core i7 "Sandy Bridge" processors, up to 750GB HDDs and up to 8GB of RAM; they can also be specified with Lenovo's RapidDrive, which combines a 32GB SSD with a regular hard-drive to boost system performance.

Lenovo's IdeaPad U260 has evolved from tempting leak to official product, and is hitting virtual shelves today. Priced from $899, the 12.5-inch U260 is yet to show up on the company's webstore, but when it does it will have a choice of Intel's 1.33GHz Core i3-380UM or 1.33GHz to 1.86GHz Core i5-470UM processors, an unspecified Core i7 option up to 4GB of DDR3 memory and a standard 320GB 5,400rpm hard-drive (or 128GB SSD).

A further five Gigabyte 6 Series motherboards intended for Intel's second-gen "Sandy Bridge" Core processors have emerged, after we showed you the first three models (the P67A-UD3R, P67A-UD3 and H67MA-UD2H) back in October.
