Information about this new Samsung M610 cell phone sketchy at best. From what I can gather, the M610 (if that’s even its real name) appears similar to the Z620 and D830. It looks thinner than the RAZR V3, probably has a microSD slot, 2-megapixel camera, and possibly a different charging port. It doesn’t have ready link; what you’re seeing in the picture is the volume button. Please send in any info you may have on this phone, meanwhile, I’ll contact our Sprint representative and see what else we can dig up. More pictures after the jump.

I just got the phone and the only thing I am unhappy about that I didnt realize until I got home and started messing with the phone is that the 2.0 magapixel camara has NO FLASH.

Roy - a flash sure would help, but in many instances, they don’t.

Yeah, but can you easily sync your contacts?

Has anyone found a supporting contact sync solution yet? All software solution providers do not list the M610 in their compatibility list. I’ve made inquiries but no answers yet.

Actually i did find a way to sync phone numbers. The program datapilot (around 40 bucks) comes with drivers for many phone with constant updates. yet the m610 could only transfer phone numbers unlike other phones which can sync pics… but hey the phone accepts a micro sd card which allows u to tranfer pics that way.

I would go for the program i think its worth the money.

Yes, but Datapilot doesn’t include the necessary data cable, nor does it look like their cable partner sells a cable for the M610, unless the same one that works for the M500 works for the M610.

i just got this phone yesterday and i’m returning it today. there is no way to sync. you’d think samsung and the mobile carriers would figure that out. bummer since it’s a really nice thin phone. i’m switching to a motorola q.

i’m thinking about getting the m610 today but are you people saying it won’t download a pic to a computer? Why have a camera?

also, i read in another review that the speakerphone may be weak. Any knowledge?

I use the bluetooth FTP to transfer pictures to and from the phone. If you rename files to acceptable extensions you can store any file under 300K. I take PDF’s and rename them *.jpg for example.

This thing will sync the address book via cable but does not support the necessary bluetooth profile. Samsung is known for stripping down the bluetooth profile list for north american models.

Who know where to get another software for M610. It’s own is not rhe best one.
I can’t even place my favourite songs on incoming calls, without interenet. That’s Sprint’s greed!!!

I have the Data Cable for the m610 but no driver for it yet. I’m on the eternal search. All I want to do I type my contacts INTO the phone.

I love this phone, but I am the type of person who hates Blackberry’s/Treos.

You can get webmail on this phone, but no POP email, or Exchange.

    The Camera is decent.

The MP3 player can be worked two ways - the first is to buy and download songs from sprint which I wont because I’m tired of buying the same songs over and over again.

The second is to buy a MicroSD card (with adapter) and just copy/paste your MP3 and/or m4a files onto the card via a card reader on the computer. (Hypothetically, you should be able to do this straight to the phone via USB, but I haven’t found software yet)

From here you can play music in the “music player” that is connected to Sprints “music store”

    - OR -

You can play them through the media player built into the phone (no internet connection required)

The Trick to this is where you store your music.

If you want to play them in the store music player then you have to store them in the folder called “music” on the micro card.

But to play on the phone by itself then put them in the “media” folder instead.

The included headset is actually fairly decent for earbuds, if your music is bass intensive though, you’ll want something else.

I don’t know about bluetooth because I don’t use it.

My biggest gripe about this phone is that there’s not “missed” call alert that says on. For example if you miss a call it will display “missed call” on the external display for a few seconds, then the display goes blank - there’s not flashing light, nothing. So if you just look at the phone you have no way to know if you’ve missed a call unless you open it. Not a deal breaker, but annoying none the less. A little flashing LED light wouldn’t have hurt anything.

I’d give it an 8 or 9 out of 10, because I really do like the phone. If it broke I’d buy it again.

    Cheers!
    Mark

Just to let you know, this phone can be linked to the PC by USB. One Connected in the phone go to TOOLS> MASS STORAGE> CONNECT TO PC. This will let you use the phone a mass storage device. Inside the phone folder you should find a folder called MEDIA. store your songs and videos there to accesses them in the media player. For Pictures the should be in DCIM> 100SSMED . If this foldes are not there simply make them your self.

I am noticing a problem with my M610. Sometimes it will completely turn off power when I flip the phone shut. It may only be happening when I leave it inside the car during hot days and the entire phone heats up. When this happened yesterday, I could press on the outside casing of the phone and trigger the off button to shut down the phone. Today, it was 20º cooler b/c of rain and the problem wouldn’t repeat.

Checked CompUSA.com for datapilot, and all reviews were bad. Apparently difficult to install, limited transfers unless you pay $580 for unlimited, support not universal, and quality issues. A shop owner said all datapilot packs he sells get returned.

Is there any other transfer software out there?

Had the same problem. However, if you simply take the phone (and yoiur old one) over to the nearest Sprint store, they will transfer the phonebook for you. Simply takes about 5 minutes and is free. Still not as good as working with the phone to do all the graphics, ringers, etc. However, will get you up and running until someone comes out with a good driver.
