NoYes

youtube_logo-125x94-custom1Earlier this week, we talked about a rumor going around that Sony and YouTube were in talks about the possibility of the video site posting full length movies and now Sony has confirmed that such talks are, in fact, happening.

So, what’s the extent of this confirmation? Apparently, Sony Pictures Television spokesperson Paula Askanas said, “We are having conversations with YouTube.” Yeah, not earth-shattering news, but a solid non-denial, which we like.

If this deal does happen, it would mean YouTube could post full-length Sony Pictures’ films for free, with revenue being generated by ads, no doubt. It is likely that older films will make it up on YouTube first, not the latest blockbusters, so as to not drive DVD sales down.
