Sony Rolly is safe in the US "at this time"

Hearing that Sony had potentially discontinued their Rolly PMP in America had a surprising effect on us.  We'd never actually considered going out and buying the dancing, flashing MP3 player, but thinking of it being culled brought back the sort of feelings we hadn't experienced since watching Bambi as children.  Happily it's good news for all who feel the same, as Sony claim they have no intention of axing Rolly.

Well, that's not quite true.  In fact, Sony say "there is no truth to these reports at this time", which does rather suggest that while the Rolly hasn't been discontinued right now, it might not quite be that way in the near future.

In the end, it seems Sony really needs more people who find Rolly endearing and go out and buy one rather than people like us who appreciate it for its bizarre appeal but wouldn't dream of spending money on it.  A whole lot of the blame has to be shouldered by the price tag, though; we found a lot more people were interested in the Rolly when they heard it might be discounted to $99 in Sony Style stores.
