As little as five years ago, workstations were beyond the reach of general consumers. Now, not only is hardware more affordable but workstations have applications not just for work but for play. To stand a chance of winning an HP xw4600 Workstation with Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 processor, NVIDIA Quadro FX1700 512MB PCIe Graphics, 2GB DDR2 ECC RAM and Genuine Windows® Vista™ Business (64-bit), worth over $2,000, we want you to impress us with how you would creatively use the workstation.

Details on the giveaway after the cut

Over the next three weeks we’d like you to submit your proposals as to what interesting project you envisage using the xw4600 for – your entry could be a video mock up, photos or a written brief – and on December 10th we’ll pick the one that we feel best demonstrates the potential of the HP workstation. That person gets the opportunity to create their project for real. Entries should be submitted in this forum thread.

DreamWorks used HP’s workstations to produce the animated film Kung Fu Panda, so there’s massive potential for what the winner could do. So think creatively and try to make your entry eye-catching and persuasive. Good Luck!

Terms & Conditions
Entry limited to US residents only, all submissions must be made in the competition thread on the SlashGear forum. Multiple entries may be submitted; closing date is December 10th at 11.59pm EST according to the forum clock. Entries submitted after that time will not be considered. Editors decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Winner receives an HP xw4600 workstation as donated by HP USA. There is no cash alternative. Winner agrees that their name may be used in future publicity by, but not limited to, SlashGear, the Aradius Media Network and HP. Entry into this competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
