Sometimes, amid the Treos and the KRZRs, the Dashes and the Vertus, we forget that there are people out there who don’t care about push email and wouldn’t really give a damn about moblogging. People who just want a relatively attractive handset that’s lightweight, straightforward to use and, perhaps most of all, cheap. Thankfully Samsung have taken time out from squashing high-spec-tech into a tiny chassis and created the SGH-X520 budget handset.

So what do you get for your money? There’s a 128×160 pixel, 65,000 colour display, a 0.3 megapixel camera and mp3 ringtone support, oh, and a built-in FM radio. Absent features include , Bluetooth, any form of expandable memory and a dedicated MP3 player.

It’s lightweight, it’s straightforward, it’s reasonably attractive. Should hit the pay-as-you-go shelves by Christmas.
