060816_10.jpgThe RoverTv portable media player is by far one of the sexiest devices I’ve seen. It merely weighs 4.5 ounces and roughly the size of a deck of cards, making it extremely pocket-able. Cool features like record directly from TV, DVD, CD, FM or computer (supports Mac and PCs), RoverTv accommodates MP3, MP4, WAV files and more. Built-in software allows for easy transfer of video and music content to and from the device. There’s also a built-in FM radio receiver to listen and record FM radio. It’s ashame there’s no WiFi.

RoverTv took a different approach to storage by eliminating a hard drive all together. The company’s justification for going with a standard SD memory card is to allow you with an unlimited amount of memory, retaining a light and small form-factor, while making it a more durable product. The included 2 GB card allows for 4 hours of high quality video numerous JPEG/BMG/Gif photos, or 2800 songs. The rechargeable, integrated lithium ion battery lasts for a minimum of six hours of video viewing (two full-length movies and a couple of sitcoms).

The 4-inch color screen with 480 x 272 resolution cost $349 while the 3.5-inch runs for $299. RoverTv is available through Doghouse Electronics at www.rovertv.com.
