Retina iPad mini available for in-store pickup (if you're lucky)

Supposing you're aiming to purchase a Retina iPad mini and you don't want to wait for it to be shipped to your home this week after digital sales started this morning. Did you know that you've got the option to head to an Apple store to pick the device up? The only kink in this particular machine is the fact that not every Apple store has the retina iPad mini in stock – it would seem that the majority of the stores across the United States today are without stock at the moment.

If you live in New York City, on the other hand, you may very well be in luck. Several stores across the 5 boroughs have shown availability for the full lot of sizes and colors of the retina iPad mini – but you really should call ahead to make sure you're going to be able to reserve the one you're ordering. Or reserve it online, of course.

Meanwhile in-store pickup seems to be the only option for stores with the device in-stock. Again, if you plan on purchasing a retina iPad mini today, you'll want to check again before making the long haul down to your corner Apple store. Walk-in sales, as they're called, are not set to be offered until the tablet is able to be stocked at full capacity across the USA (at least).

This device is available in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB editions in Wi-fi-only and from each of the big four mobile device carriers in the United States. Pricing ranges from $399 all the way up to $829 for Wi-fi with 16GB all the way up to 4G LTE with 128GB. Stick around the SlashGear Apple hub for more information and our full review!
